This vintage devotional holy card presents a beautifully preserved sepia-toned photographic portrait of Blessed Elizabeth Bichier des Ages in her religious habit. Comes from a nun estate. The front features a formal studio portrait showing the foundress seated at a writing desk with a crucifix and open book, her contemplative gaze and serene expression capturing the depth of her spiritual life. The card's aged cream-colored paper bears the gentle patina of decades, lending authentic character to this historical piece. The inscription identifies her as "B. Elisabeth Bichier des Ages, Fondatrice des Filles de la Croix dites Soeurs de St. André" with the stamp "Importé d'Italie," confirming its Italian origin.

The reverse of the card features a traditional prayer beginning with "O Bienheureuse Elisabeth!" printed in French, invoking the intercession of this blessed servant of God. At the bottom left corner appears the seal of the Daughters of the Cross congregation with its distinctive cross and religious emblems. The card includes the Nihil Obstat ecclesiastical approval and imprimatur dated May 4, 1934, from Mediolani (Milan), attesting to its authenticity and proper authorization for Catholic devotional use.

Saint Elizabeth Bichier des Ages (1773-1838) was a French nun who, alongside Saint Andrew Fournet, founded the Congregation of the Daughters of the Cross (also known as the Sisters of Saint Andrew). During the turbulent period of the French Revolution, she courageously served the persecuted Church, sheltering priests and maintaining Catholic worship when it was forbidden. Her congregation dedicated itself to educating children and caring for the sick and poor in rural France. She was beatified in 1934 and canonized by Pope Pius XII in 1947, celebrated for her unwavering faith and charitable works.

This vintage holy card measures approximately 2.5" x 4" (6.5 cm x 10 cm) and features period typography and printing techniques characteristic of 1930s Italian religious publications. Made in Italy and imported during the era of Elizabeth's beatification, this card represents an authentic piece of Catholic devotional history.

This piece has been blessed by Pope Leo XIV in St. Peter's Square.
