Elderberry 'York' (Sambucus canadensis)

Fast growing shrub known for fruit often used medicinally, in baked goods, wines, and jams. This variety's fruit is very dark purple and ripe in late summer. 

Deciduous, grows 8-10 feet tall, and hardy to -30 degrees F.
