Series Snapshot |James is a four-session series that helps students see that faith isn’t just something we believe, it’s something we live. Each week, students will walk through some of the key passages in James and discover how real faith shows up in everyday life.
Series Overview | James doesn’t just tell students what to believe; he teaches what belief looks like. The book of James helps students see that real faith is active, visible, and transforming. He says that if you claim to follow Jesus, your life should look like it. James challenges students to evaluate their faith and their actions, to identify where the two don’t match up, and to make the necessary changes to live a life of everyday faith.
Session 1: Trials and Temptations (James 1:1-18) |This session helps students see that trials and temptations aren’t wasted. God uses them to grow our endurance, strengthen our faith, and reveal our need for Him. These moments become opportunities to depend on God and grow closer to Him.
Session2: Real Faith(James 2:14-26)|This session helps students see that real faith is more than words or a knowledge of God. It’s a reflection of how we live. James teaches us that faith and works go hand in hand, and a real faith produces action and an active faith leads to transformation that shows up in everyday life.
Session 3: Our Words (James 3:1-12) |This session helps students see that words are powerful and are never “just words.” James shows us that the tongue is small but influential, impossible to tame on our own, and a mirror of what’s going on inside of us. We must learn to give control over our words to God so we can use them to build people up rather than tear them down.
Session 4: Draw Near (James 4:1-10) |This session helps students see that friendship with the world and friendship with God cannot coexist. James shows us that our hearts are in a constant tug-of-war between the world and God. Through God’s grace, students will see that they can draw near to God and live as friends of Him.
